Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament is the most common orthopaedic disease in dogs. Recently, there has been talk of anterior cruciate ligament disease. Most breeds are affected. Large and giant breeds are affected at a younger age than small breeds. Diagnosis is made by clinical examination and supported by imaging. Treatment of anterior cruciate ligament rupture is most often surgical, but non-surgical therapy is also possible. Studies have shown the benefit of rehabilitation in the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament rupture. A tailored rehabilitation plan is developed for each individual case.
